When can I access my storage unit or visit the office?

What holidays are the facilities closed?
We close at 2:00 pm on New Year’s Eve, closed New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Day.
What types of leases are offered?
Leases are month to month. Keep your unit for however long you need.
Should I have storage insurance?
Yes! Proof of insurance is required. We highly recommend you purchase Tenant Insurance offered through our facility: choose your level of coverage for a low monthly premium payable with your rent. Have peace of mind knowing your goods are covered and any losses won't affect your personal insurance policy premiums. Claims are paid within 10-days with proper documented evidence. Or, you can contact your insurance agent to add storage coverage to your policy. *Policies MUST BE uploaded and verified by our system for Rental Lease Agreement to remain valid.
Is there a resident manager at each facility?
Alpha Storage Valparaiso has a skilled resident manager to assist with storage need or question, and ensure extra security. All facilities have friendly, knowledgeable day staff to assist with your storage needs.
Do you offer temperature controlled storage units?
We’re proud to provide high quality temperature controlled storage units in Valparaiso, IN that are enclosed, heated, and cooled to protect your belongings from extreme temperatures and potentially harmful outdoor elements. (Michigan City's temperature-controlled areas are planned for 2025...we have experienced delays due to NICTD railroad taking of property, improving the remaining infrastructure, phased addition of interior units, and upgrades to sprinkler systems). Indoor vehicle storage areas are heated, providing better storage for your cars, boats and RVs.
How do I pay my storage bill?
Tenants can pay their storage bill online with a debit or credit card. Sign up for auto-pay to never miss a payment. You may mail a check or money order, call-in a payment, or stop by your facility location to pay in person.
We accept cash, check, money orders, MasterCard and Visa.
What types of vehicle storage is offered?
Alpha Storage has plenty of space to store your RV, boat, car, truck, motorcycle or any other vehicle. If your neighborhood has rules against parking vehicles outside your garage, we’re your best option. We have indoor HEATED (Michigan City) and outdoor secure, fenced spaces.
Are the facilities secure?
We take pride in maintaining safe and secure facilities. Each storage unit is locked with a secure lock, which we have for sale in the office. In addition to the electronic gate (at the Valparaiso location), a manual gate is in Michigan City plus 24 hour video surveillance. Alpha Storage is the most secure and safe storage solution around. Enter our facilities and feel confident that your belongings are being monitored all day.
How do I make a reservation?
You can place a temporary "hold" on a unit by filling out our online reservation form ; it will expire within 24 hours. You MUST call to finalize the "online Move-In" by either e-signing the lease through email or coming into our office to complete the process.
Do you offer any specials or discounts?
- We support, honor and salute those previously or currently in the military. We offer a 10% discount on your rental rate for the entirety of your rental.
- Customers "of a certain age ;-) -- 65 and over receive 5% off monthly rent.
- We run specials from time to time so be sure to give us a call or check back here for unit pricing. I.D. verification required, restrictions apply.
How are leases terminated?
We require a ten day (10-day) notice prior to your desired move-out date so we can notify "wait-listed" customers and help with scheduling.
Do you require a security deposit for renting a unit?
No, we do not require a security deposit. There is a one time mandatory administrative fee for account setup at all locations on each unit rented.
If all the terms and conditions of the rental agreement have been met, proper notice to terminate lease has been given, and the unit is completely empty with no damage to unit or property, then no further fees after vacating the unit will be charged to the account.
Am I able to purchase boxes and supplies?
Of course. When you need boxes, tape, bubble wrap, or covers, we have them and many other moving supplies in our offices.
What if I need extra time after Access Hours?
Michigan City customers will be charged a minimum $50, payable up-front, for the first 30-minutes past closing time. Additional hours will be charged at the $50/hour rate with a limit of 2 hours.
Valparaiso has no extra hours, the gate CLOSES promptly at 9pm.
